Deaydre Pulliam's Bio:

Thank You for the visit today. Hello: My name is Deaydre Lea Pulliam. I am the administrator at Sunshine HHA Organization Inc. also known as The Kensington Agency. I can be reached at 619-466-8773 or Toll-Free 1-800-466-8469. Home Care is the nature of our business. Our motto is: Good care: An elemental aspect of successful thriving! I believe, as our registered trade mark states, that in order to successfully thrive, good care is a fundamental component to that process.  In order to deliver good care to our clients, we have literally amassed a village of the best available caregivers we can find. Soon you will be able to virtually meet our caregivers here at: www.grandmothersvillage.com (Coming Soon!) I would like to take a moment to talk about these caregivers. I love them all. They do an excellent job. Their job is not always easy. They work through Holidays, rain storms, hot spells, trips to the hospital; they are there when family members aren't. Through thick and thin they are devoted to the clients whom they serve. I will never forget the feeling of terror that came over me when my brother called me to tell me that an airplane had been flown into the twin towers in New York. He said "turn on the news!" I turned on the television and watched in horror as a second plane plunged into the towers. At that moment I thought with the uncertainty of what was going to happen next, surely, we will have nurses asking for relief or possibly wanting to leave their respective jobsite(s) to be with their families. After praying, I quickly prepared our staffing coordinators to be ready for calls from clients and nurses who might need comforting or possible replacement. Through all the tragedy and the uncertainty, every caregiver we had on their respective jobsites stayed put and waited with their clients; They checked in with our office staff but not one of them called in to be relieved.  What dedication! Bravo! Good Caregivers are Marvelous people. The 911 tragedy is the worst we have seen since I have been administrator here, since 1990 (off & on). At least for the entire United States I have not seen an incident like that before nor have I seen one since that had so much uncertainty. Well, natural disasters like Katrina and The awful New Jersey shore and Eastern Seaboard storms and weather related things like tornadoes are also very tragic. Not to minimize any of that, but, they are often specific to certain areas at that moment. Caregivers can utilize Emergency preparedness and evacuation protocols in these unfortunate circumstances. Terrorism doesn't have such a predictable outcome. Terrorism is more broadly pernicious. It acts exactly like the evil-doers performing it intend it to. It invokes terror in its victims. Its impact is not always specific to a particular region. We were mortified wondering about where these planes in the sky were going and if they were going to be dropping nuclear bombs somewhere. I just wanted to get to my husband and my sons. I felt like some others might want to be close with their own families too and expected that we would get calls. I stayed in the office ready with our staff to act upon any requests. Everyone of the cargivers put the immediate needs of their clients foremost. I was so proud of all of them. They are so devoted and so caring. They deserve every blessing that God bestows upon them. So, Kudos to the Caregivers!  I brought that up because caregivers, Doctors, public servants, Ambulance drivers, soldiers, Firemen, volunteers etc. -They are often unappreciated. Take time to thank these people if you have an occasion to. As our population is aging our median age is getting higher. We need these dedicated folks to assist these elderly ones. God bless them.   Besides the fact that we do the necessary and obvious things such as making sure the caregivers have no communicable diseases, such as TB, perform thorough background checks and excessive screening, we go above and beyond to find characteristics in people that show that they are dedicated to their profession. We look for people who really care about people and who are in the business for that reason. We recruit the winners who are ethical and have the highest standards. We seek out ones who love what they do. We have been around for nearly three decades and surely there is a good reason for that. We care! When I was sixteen years old, my mother was the co-founder of a reputable and highly successful Nursing Agency on the coast of San Diego County. My father was a rocket scientist. Although that agency still exists today, I believe it has changed hands many times since then and still remains a wonderful State Licensed Home Health Care Agency.  While my mother, who was a licensed nurse and an entrepreneur, was running her agency, my brother had a very tragic accident that left him brain dead. Suddenly, we were relying on nurses to come and work in our home.  Caring for my brother and learning about running the agency was a catalyst for me to start nursing school. After studying nursing, I realized that my highest and best purpose to help people with their home Care needs was not to be the "hands on" nurse but to be involved with administration. My interest in people is very strong; that coupled with my deep desire to create an excellent experience for everyone needing our services assures that we will go the extra mile to make sure that you are cared for in the best way possible. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, but... it does take a lot of patience, no pun intended. Our staff has the energy, the ability and the high standards necessary to organize and coordinate excellence.  We have years of practical experience on all sides of the home care industry.  We consider your unique situation and handle your care needs with care and confidentiality. Our director of staff development has in depth knowledge of business management and gerontology. Our nursing supervisors all hold active Licenses in Nursing with the State Of California. We were established in 1990; therefore, we have been serving all of San Diego County for over twenty-five years. We have an A+ rating with the better business bureau. “You shall stand up before the gray head and honor the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:32 Yes, the elderly among us should be honored, respected and cared for. We take pride in doing the job.
